Meet Jordan Wink
Based in Madison, Wisconsin, Jordan Wink is the artist behind SeckndSun, a contemporary practice centered around symbolic, expressionistic digital work. His paintings explore themes of memory, identity, and the tension between light and darkness, often using bold color and surreal imagery to communicate emotional depth.
Although art had always been present in his life, Jordan spent nearly a decade building a career in the corporate world. That path worked, but something underneath it remained unresolved.
In 2024, after a major personal transition, he returned to art with intention. What began as a personal outlet quickly evolved into something more focused and deliberate. SeckndSun emerged as both an identity and a framework for exploring deeper themes of connection, existentialism, and emotional meaning.
Signature Style
Jordan’s work blends surreal imagery with symbolic storytelling. Recurring motifs, bold palettes, and layered compositions allow meaning to develop over time rather than exist in a single narrative.
I explore ideas like human connection, existentialism, and emotional meaning.
Influences range widely. Music, nature, pets, mythology, religion, and graphic novels all contribute to the visual language of his work. His background in psychology shapes how these elements are expressed, often through abstraction rather than literal storytelling.
Color plays a defining role. His pieces lean toward expressive palettes that feel alive and immersive, pulling the viewer into an emotional experience rather than simply presenting an image.
I want the work to have energy, movement, and emotional immediacy.
The Interview
Can you tell us about your journey as an artist?
I’ve been drawn to art for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I spent time drawing sports figures and even submitted work to Sports Illustrated for Kids. It never got published, but the impulse to create stayed with me.
After years in a corporate career, I reached a point where I needed to reconnect with myself. Art became that outlet. At first the work was rough, but I stayed consistent. Over time it became more intentional, and SeckndSun emerged as my identity as an artist.
Do you have any routines or habits that fuel your creativity?
My process is simple. A good playlist, a quiet space, and a few feline helpers nearby. Working digitally has been essential for me, especially balancing a full-time job. It allows me to move quickly and experiment without constraints.
When the environment is right, the work just flows.
Do you have a favorite piece?
One of my defining pieces is De4d of Night, featuring two skeletons under a full moon. It was one of the first times I felt clarity in the direction I was taking. It gave me confidence that this path was worth continuing.
What advice would you give emerging artists?
Create, be confident, and share your work. Don’t overthink how it will be received. Some pieces will resonate more than others, but as long as you keep showing up, people will connect with it.
Printing with The Stackhouse
As a digital artist, translating work from screen to physical form is critical. Professional printing provides a way for the work to exist beyond digital platforms while maintaining its depth and intention.
Jordan has gravitated toward Fine Art Giclee Prints as a primary format. The process allows for rich color reproduction and a surface quality that gives digital work a tangible presence.
Understanding how different sizes and formats affect presentation can also shape how work is experienced in physical space. This guide can help: Selecting Print Size and Border Options.
For emerging artists, choosing a print partner that prioritizes quality over convenience can significantly impact how the work is perceived and collected.
